What is glutathione?

Glutathione, found in both flora and fauna, is one of the most abundant and potent antioxidant found in nature. Sometimes referred as the "master of antioxidants", glutathione also helps other antioxidants like vitamin C/E, CoQ10 recycle or boosts their efficacy.

Composed of 3 different amino acids (cysteine, glycine, clutamic acid), glutathione comes in 2 different forms:

  • Reduced glutathione (GSH, or L-glutathione) - oxidative damage repairs
  • Oxidized glutathione (GSSG) - inactive form, GSH turns into this form after oxidation, but can be recycled back to GSH

Glutathione and Mitochondria

Glutathione will protect the mitochondria in your cells, which are energy factories providing energy to your cells and body.

Free radicals, toxins, and heavy metals. These are some of the threats to mitochondria glutathione protects it from. Because of this, maintaining a high level of glutathione in our bodies is crucial to keep the mitochondria in our cells healthy.

What causes glutathione deficiency?

The natural aging process decreases the glutathione levels in our body. There are other factors such as disease or environmental factors, but with age, your body naturally loses a lot of glutathione to protect it from oxidative damage.

Why Liposomal Glutathione?

When orally administered, glutathione can be broken down more easily than other modes of delivery such as intravenously.

For this reason, liposomal protection of the glutathione molecule will increase the efficacy of glutathione delivery into our system.
